برادرم، خواهرم
my brother, my sister
2020
The project is in reference to a term of endearment, “برادرم، خواهرمmy brother, my sister” introduced through an Iranian friend, Fereydoon.
After living together for a period of time, preceding the first lockdown, our families became well-acquainted, quite quickly.
From then on, everytime I met up with Fereydoon, Nazanin and the kids, I was always greeted with the same phrase “my brother, my sister”. It’s not so common to hear such warm words from someone you’ve only known for a span of months, and yet, there was something so inviting about this discourse.
The photo series documents the family in the familar space of their home and enacts as an initial opening up of our relationship.
